Celebrating Abilities: Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month — a time to recognize the talents, strengths, and contributions of people with developmental disabilities and to promote a more inclusive community for all.

Developmental disabilities are lifelong conditions that may impact learning, communication, mobility, or daily living skills. But they do not define a person’s potential. Every individual has unique abilities, goals, and dreams. This month reminds us that inclusion matters — in our schools, workplaces, neighborhoods, and friendships.

At Hills & Dales, we are proud to support children and adults with developmental disabilities through compassionate, person-centered services. From residential living and community-based support to specialized therapies, nursing care, and behavioral health services, our team works alongside individuals and families to help each person reach their fullest potential. We focus on building independence, encouraging meaningful connections, and creating environments where everyone feels valued and respected.

Awareness is just the beginning. True inclusion means creating opportunities, removing barriers, and ensuring people with developmental disabilities have access to the same choices and experiences as anyone else. Together, we can build a community where everyone belongs — not just in March, but all year long.
