Group Respite

Group respite provides short-term relief for the usual caregiver in a group setting outside of the home.  It provides the individual with the necessary supports/services that a family member would provide while also offering opportunities for peer interaction and group activities.

Staff-to-consumer ratios shall be appropriate to the individual needs of the consumer as determined by the consumer’s interdisciplinary team.  The interdisciplinary team shall determine if the consumer will receive basic individual respite, specialized respite or group respite.

During Group Respite we do a variety of activities which include but are not limited too:

  • Arts & Crafts
  • Tie Dye Shirts
  • Visit the River Museum
  • Go to a variety of parks
  • Swimming (Country Inn & Suites, Sutton, Flora)
  • Fishing
  • Board games
  • Basket ball
  • Bubbles
  • Theme days (ex ample: Jurassic park ~ included dinosaur hunt & Dino Dig/Goo, Gak, & all that ~ included making silly putty, slime, gak and crazy clay
  • Library programs
  • Wii Games
  • Movies
  • Swiss Valley Natue Center
  • EB Lions
  • Grand Harbor Water Park
  • Parachute
  • Going to the Fair
  • Finger paint with pudding
  • Coloring/drawing
  • Make instruments
